Are you a little worried of never being enough?
Are you a little worried of never being enough?
1st Kings 17:8-16
Elijah wasn’t led to someone that was powerful or wealthy. He was led to someone that the world would see as “little”.
Be careful what you label “little”. Because it will become a lid.
Who here needs God in a big way in this season of your life?
Afraid of not having enough?
Afraid of not having enough?
1 Kings 17:10 “So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering wood. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup and let me drink.””
So many of us have put God in a box with a lid. I am never going to be enough or I don’t have enough so God can’t help me!
When you feel limited, you operate in fear!
What looked selfish behavior from someone, was that really they were scared.
It is easy to mistake scared for selfish.
The woman here sounds selfish because instead of being hospitable to Elijah, she says 1 Kings 17:12 “But she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I don’t have anything baked—only a handful of flour in the jar and a little oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.””
1 Kings 17:13 “Then Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little loaf from it and bring it out to me. Afterward, you may make some for yourself and your son,”
Take your lid off a little
God will use a “little” because it is enough.
God will use a “little” because it is enough.
How did God send His son to the earth? A little baby
God can do a lot with a little!
Who does God choose to start a nation with? 1 man!
God wants to deliver the nation from Midianite oppression. Who does he come to? Gideon! Judges chapter 6
Who is Gideon? The smallest in the least clan! God likes “little”
Gideon was getting ready to fight. He started with 22,000! Then God took him to 10,000! Why?
God brought Gideons army down to 300! Why? Because God can use a little!
God loves when you only are able to come with a little because it gives Him something to use. It gives Him something to work with. God can use a “little”!
When you don’t feel like you are enough, you don’t have enough. God wants to get you down to the point where all you can do is rely on HIM!
John 3:30 “He must become greater, but I must become less.””
Give God a little praise right now!
It’s ok if you have a “little” faith.
It’s ok if you have a “little” faith.
- Matthew 17:20 ““Because of your little faith,” he told them. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.””
- If you take the lid off the “little” you have, it won’t be little for long!
- God likes it when you aren’t arrogant! God likes it when you need him! God likes it when you humble yourself! God likes it when you feel untrained! God likes it when you feel like you are the only one because that’s when God shows himself the most!
- Truth is, if we are honest, none of us have what it takes. But God does. God doesn’t need you. God wants you!
- Now go back and say, “God I know I don’t have every gift but I have some gifts. God I don’t feel like I have a whole lot of strength right now but I do have a little.”
- When you begin to worship a little, when you begin to trust God a little, when you begin to read the bible a little, you take the lid off a little!
- You see, it says that when the woman did what Elijah told her to do, she didn’t get more flour and more oil, it said that what she had didn’t run out.
- It will always look like you are not enough. Here is the truth though, you will always be, ENOUGH.
Take away: You have more in you than what you think!
